In Paris by Jay Z & Kanye West is a very unconventional music video through a number of different elements, compared to music videos in general and music videos specific to the genre.

The use of sound is very unconventional through not being the same song in the album (Watch The Throne) and the single. Instead the music video contains a live performance from the tour and has the artist singing live instead of the studio recording. By using a live performance the music video can sing along to the song, especially with pauses in the song for the audiences to sing for example "Jackson, Tyson, Jordan... (Game 6)." Audiences will also want to hear the different live version compared to the radio edit and album version; this will draw more viewers in. The beginning of the music video starts with Jay Z and Kanye West talking to the crowd, these acts as an introduction to the music video and gets audiences to see what the Watch the Throne Tour was like, through its huge success and many who couldn't go.

A unique unconventional camera was used to show the atmosphere when performing the song. A kaleidoscopic mirrored images is used throughout the video, giving a complete different prospective on the performance with the audience and artist performing in doubles. This unconventional editing technique demonstrates the craze of live music, with everyone dancing, singing and jumping and that you see everything in a whole new way, through all the lights and special effects on stage. This can be useful in experimenting in different effects that I have through Fina Cut Express to see if it can bring a feeling or emotion to the music video.

The music video also features a clip from Blades of Glory, similar to the track itself. The clip talks about how to get the audience "going". This goes well with the video being live as the audience are "going". Both Jay Z and Kanye West are wearing chains and rings following the conventional rapper look of showing off wealth and power.

The finale of the video is very similar to Kanye West's Power music video (http://youtu.be/L53gjP-TtGE) with a long shot as two panthers or Jungle Cats come either side, roughly look like a portrait of power and strength, with scary, strong powerful beings.

In Conclusion, the music video is a very unconventional media text, through its editing and use of kaleidoscopic mirrored images. However it creates this crazy atmosphere of dancing, raping, singing and cheers and personally reminds me on how you feel at a live gig.
