Loyal is a Hip Hop single by Chris Brown released 2014 featuring fellow artist Lil Wayne and Tyga. The music video is full of dancing and the artist in loud clothing. The premise of the song is about unfaithful women and how he is been in rough relationships...Rihanna?

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

The song links with Maslows Hierarchy of Needs in Love/Belonging. The sing and music video give the idea to have a woman who is faithful and loving to you. This falls under Maslow's idea to have a family and sexual intimacy. As having a person in your life, you are part of a bigger family and can expand on that and have a family together. If you don't have a "loyal" person in your life then you’re being denied one of your hierarchy of needs.

Laura Mulvey’s

The premise of the song is about relationships with women and the music video throughout features women, this follows Laura Mulvey’s idea of the media text portraying women in the heterosexual perspective. The male throughout the video looks at the first women he sees and focuses on the curves and body of the women. This follows the idea that women in the media are seen as sexual object and not looked at characteristics. The lyrics in the song further emphasis this for example "Got a white girl with some fake titties" and "Black girl with a big booty". Both lines are about what the women looks like and not what they are like, which contradicts the song as its about deceiving women, you can’t judge a person completely by what they look like.

Goodwin’s Analysis of Music Videos

Goodwin’s idea of conventional elements in music videos is seen through this music video. The ideas that the lyrics link to the visuals of the music video is evident through the lines about women immediately show women walking along the street. Loyal is a hip hop song that follows familiar conventions to its genre, something Goodwin also stated. The style and iconography of the video are similar to the genre through showing off wealth with the artist having gold chains; expensive clothing and rich luxuries can be found throughout the video.

Chris Browns Loyal music video is useful in seeing how the artist swithes the tempo of the song throguh the music vide, as the artists on the music video rap and sing at different paces and not all at the same speed. Plus the song goes under the same genre as No Church In The Wild, enabling me to see what conventioanl elements a re used in th erap genre when comapring to othe music videos I have anaolysed such as the No Church In The Wild offical video and Ni**ers In Paris.
