Media Production Proposal
Jake Andrews
Music Video
No Church in the Wild - Jay Z & Kanye West Featuring Frank Ocean
1. Your inspiration.
No Church in the Wild is a very dark, bass and chill of a song about sexuality and trust. The song can be interpreted in different ways which can be expanded in a music video. The official music video is completely different to what is imagined and that is why I choose it. I have owned the song since the day it was released in 2012 and has bought this tension and dark fantasy.
2. Explain idea/concept.
Shot in a forest in black and white.
Tramp?
Dies in forest and experiences final few second of life?
Murder?
Alien encounter?
Depression?
Love to have rain but very difficult to predicate, otherwise overcast.
3. Explain target audience.
16-30 year old males, target at a black ethnicity through the genre is target at that social group.
4. Who will feature, what will feature, where will it be set?
Belmont Downs- forest, public footpaths, dark
Me - as main character in narration, but never show face.
2 other charcters boy and girl, dont know who yet depenidng who is free and can make it. Would be used to show the crime being done that made the main charcter run and go to woods.
5. What kind of institutions are likely to be involved?
Institutions such as Roc Nation who focus on this genre will be most likely to make this video.
6. What ideological values will be mediated?
Depression
Loneliness
Guilt
The song is very dark, chill and deepful in meaning.
7. What equipment will you need?
Camera
Scruffy clothes
Possibly rain
Very powerful torches if filmed at night
8. What locations will you use?
Belmont Downs
Possibly my home (depending on how deep the narration goes.)
9. What permissions will you need?
Holly Sykes - possibly will help in filming however depends on whether she is free.
Joe Panton - Will be able to help more, through understanding the amount of time that will need to go in.
10. What costs are involved?
Hopefully not as the clothes can be old clothes I own, but ripped slightly.
Setting will be the forest which is free and for the public.
