My music video for the song No Church in the Wild will also feature a digipak to accompany the song. The cover will have a cross reference to the music video with the image about the topic of religion. The digipak could also feature a shot of the music video or the artists involved.

The genre of rap, which the song for my music video comes under, has incorporate religious aspects into its songs, album artwork and lyrics. Rap artist Kanye West is the most known artist to include religion in his work. His World tour poster for his album Yeezus sees the artist being levitated upwards looking like he rising to heaven.

Although of a different genre, Lady Gaga is known for incorporating religion into her work. Her 2011 song Judas featured the Christian cross on the single cover is the titled after the follower of Jesus who betrayed the son of god. The song did receive spite from several religious group but had a general success, proving that incorporating religion into music can be commercially successful.

My digipak cover will have a theme of religion with a crossover of the rap genres conventional look of dark colours. Kendrick Lemars album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City fits the conventional look of dark, and crime related with censorship over the eyes. The artwork is still filled with detail and done with a unconventional photo across the whole album.

Other albums not just in the rap genre have taken a different angle in album artwork for example Kanye West’s Yeezus has no artwork at all, except for a bright orange sticker to keep the case sealed. Kanye West could be going for this unconventional approach to attract attention and want people to focus on his music more. Kasabian most recent album 48:13 features nothing but the length of each track on a bright pink background, tis simplistic design is becoming more conventional in the modern music word. Compared to the 30 years ago where albums covers where made with incredible design and can possibly be described as art especially with the likes of Iron Maiden about with their skull made covers with their mascot of a ghoul Eddie. Artwork to music however has become more simplistic possibly to send a message to focus on the music more than the appearance.
