I was watching Family Guy last night and Peter Griffin talks about how Dancing in the Street by Mick Jagger and David Bowie is one of the worst music videos ever. I googled the song and I agree this music video is shocking.
I can use this video to see how a music video can be bad, and hopefully not replicate this in mine. The main factor to why this music video is so bad is it looks like someone picked up a camera told the two singers to do what they want. With no choreography and with a setting that look like the recording studio car park I can’t believe this was created by two huge stars. The song video gets quite boring after a while though being so receptive of them just dancing like drunks. A key factor with music videos is keeping the audience interested, but this fails to do this even though it’s only 3 minutes long.
Furthermore, this video goes completely against David Bowie’s unique persona. This sort of video nothing special and could have been done by any artist.
In conclusion, after watching this music video I was shocked in how rubbish it was considering the artist in the song being two of the biggest stars in the music world ever. For my music video I can look at this and think how to make my scenes have structure and not have a location that’s boring and doesn’t bring emotion to the audience.
