The video attached is a montage and comparisons of footage of my test shot outing in Belmont Downs. The opening video is meant to be a 1st person view walking along a public foot path in the forest. I have then used Final Cut and changed the video into black and white which is what the real music video will look like, by putting the shots next to each other I have been able to do comparisons in seeing how clear the forest is in black and white. The lighting of the forest was a concern through it being covered by branches above but on the test shot day I was able to film in a dark cloudy day which came out clear on film, meaning the conditions for the day I will not be worried about. Even it is raining I’m happy to film as this can be interpreted as sadness or depression.
The video features a tracking shot and more first person shots as this is what much of the music video will be made up of. I experimented in how to use first person and what was most effective, for example I positioned the camera in many different positions when walking and experimented in how shaky the camera should be. The video attached to the video was the best first person shot out of them all. This will speed the process of filming up as I know exactly how to hold the camera and don’t have to worry about the clearness of the shots.
The video features stills taken of my camera and then edited using Pixelmator, the pictures show the original shot and then edited under final cut, by doing this the forest has a much darker presents and brings darker emotions out of it. The image was not only just turned black and white but I played with the brightness of the clip and saturation.
I was originally going to play the song for the music video over the Test Shot video, however I want just the Diegetic Sounds to connote how the forest is very quiet and isolated and perfect for filming.
*Updating on Youtube tonight for video tonight.
