Classical:
Audiences for classical music are not targeted as directly compared to other genes such as pop due to the songs that they are listening to are very old and dominate the market compared to the latest in orchestral music. . Instead people who listen to Classical music might find new music in that genre by listening to Classic FM or buy the magazines and other media products that deal with this genre, classical music does not have music videos unless a certain orchestra performs the song at an event, but even then video sites such as YouTube don’t advertise this at the front of their page due to its lack of popularity compared to the more mainstream genres.
Rock:
Rock is more mainstream and far more we advertised across the media with major festivals such as Glastonbury or V Festival supporting new and upcoming artists, fans of this genre have far more media products to choose from compared to classical. Although the Rock genre can be broken down into sub categories and certain bands coming into more than one genre for example bands such as The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs can be questioned to be more than a rock band but an Indy or alternative band. Plus bands such as MegaDeth can certainly be considered in more than just the Rock genre. However no matter if they fall in one or more genres Rock magazines, Radios and TV Channels are evident throughout the world and target audiences using them. The best media product to target audiences is YouTube which certainly broadcasts the latest in music videos from this genre and gets people buying the latest content.
Pop:
Probably the most advertised and broadcasted music genre in the world (Possibly due to so many songs coming user this categories.), many pop bands and artists have claimed fame through targeting audiences just through YouTube which is just like Rock the pinnacle in targeting audiences, from the actual music video, to behind the scenes of the music video and interviews with the artists, YouTube had a major part in making the Pop genre so bug. Audiences can view the latest Pop songs off YouTube and then buy it instantly sometimes directly through the site with iTunes links. Stream sites such as Spotify and Deezer have also played a big part in cemented this genre as the main genre of the world, through enabling audiences to listen to songs for free (With adverts in between songs.) thus targeting audiences as they can listen to a specific genre and find new artists to listen too.
Hip Hop or Rap:
I personally believe this genre to be the biggest genre in the world excluding Pop though it songs can only be linked with this genre unlike Pop which many songs can fall under such as Dance and even Rock. But Rap or Hip Hop is a genre by itself. Probably the second most advertised about on YouTube and Stream. The Hip Hop or Rap genre has so many different media outlets to target audiences for example radio stations like Kiss FM and radio stations such as AKA and Kiss TV. Similar to Pop audiences are able to find the latest songs from current the leading artists and can also find new and upcoming rappers.
