Many mainstream artist use black and white as their album colours even though many pop artists are known for their colourful fashion sense or mind. Hip Hop or rap artist are the most likely to have their albums with this effect, mostly to define themselves as black as many of their songs are about their ethnicity or link in with it.
Black and White can give a darker emotion to people as the picture is only made up of black which is always connotes darkness. White is the plainest colour on the spectrum so it connotes lack of emotion and definition. If an artist for example Wretch 32 wants his songs to have more ideological meaning then he could use the black and white on the alum to make the listener want to look more at what’s on the album.
My music video is using black and white throughout to present sadness and depression, to emotions that can be shown well with this effect, through the video being in this colour I want the artwork to go with too match otherwise if the album is full of colours it will not fit the tone of the song.
I’m hoping that I can use Final Cut to make the blood however in the music video stays its true red and not in black and white similar to Schindler's List which sees the girl in red coat. If I can pull this off then I will incorporate it into the album cover, not over doing it by covering it but to make it relate to the music video more.
