A2 Filming Comparison to AS Filming

Filming my A2 music video was very different to filming my AS opening sequence, but in a positive way as I was able to learn from my mistake from last time to applied to this filming.

For example planning for my A2 music video was very different to last time. I learnt to focus on doing test shots more than planning huge on lighting, which is difficult to change, and what was done for my AS. Test Shots were extremely helpful in knowing exactly what I was filming and where I was filming, this saved a huge amount of time on filming day unlike last year where it took along time to work out exactly what was going to film. Although some shots on the day of filming this year were thought up on set, I would estimate that roughly 75% of what was filmed was planned, the storyboard I created was difficult to use for I can’t draw, however it gave a structure to filming and an understanding of how much needs to be filmed in certain areas.

The key difference with last year however was how many people were working on the blog, last year their 4 of us but this year its just me meaning it was far more harder to get everyone together on the same day. This year however I only had to rely on one person, meaning it was far easier in choosing a date to film. Plus on the day of filming I got a second view on if anything should change, unlike last year, which you have four different opinions, which makes it difficult in fully agreeing what should\shouldn’t be filmed. Being on your own makes it far easier in making decisions as you don’t have to deliberate with anyone and can just get on with it.

Last years filming was all inside unlike this year where roughly half of it was filmed in outside. This provided new challenges for example depending on the weather, which did hold up film the last part of filming through the heavy rain. Plus inside you can charge the camera when you not using it to avoid killing the battery. Outside does give you more freedom in a isolated/ quite area as you are not confide to a room, however filming in a public area is always difficult (And a little awkward.) as you people could get quite alarmed if your filming anything violent or bloody.

In conclusion, filming this year was very difficult compared to last year as I was filming outside and everything has to be organised by me which although does carry positives such as organising how you like it. The whole process is quite stressful and can be time consuming.
