This is the third instalments of the editing of my music video for the song No Church in the Wild. The changes in this compared to last time are I have added the titles to the song, the fonts for the name of the artists is Belfast SF. I used this font as it’s a well-known font that many people can recognise. I personally connote the font to show upper class and power, although it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what from, I see this font being used on the front of expensive homes and shops. This style of font is used a lot in the movie The Great Gatsby. A film Jay-Z did the music for, he used the font to link in with the films premises about the upper class.

The latest edition of this music video also features the quote; “God is a concept by which we measure our pain.” This quote was said by John Lennon, I thought of using a quote from John Lennon as it connects with the artist. Kanye West has worked with Paul McCartney and said he loves the Beatles and Jay Z is known to sample and rap songs from huge artists such as Nirvana, Beatles and Rolling Stones. Kanye West constantly talks about how he is the best and is the new Beatles and the new Andy Warhol, meaning using a quote from John Lennon would link well.

I have three problems (Excluding the footage that still needs to be filmed.) in my editing that I’m trying to resolve. The first problem is I personally believe my video is not clear to the audience in what’s going on, however I do have an idea in how to resolve this, instead of having the quote at the start, I’m thinking of having something simple such as, “A World Where Religion Is Proved to Be Wrong”. This gives the audience an idea of what is going on in my music video and means they are not lost from the start. The other problem is near the end, when the main character walks into the bathroom, the shot is one long shot with no change. I did this on purpose to make it feel awkward to the audience and make the audience focus on the characters movements. Although I don’t know how to resolve this issue through having no extra footage; it might be okay, however I will get people to watch the video and see what they think. The last problem is, when the character kills himself, the footage rewinds all the way back through the music video, so far I’ve sped the footage up and reversed it. However this does not look right for the rest of the music video, it looks stupid and comedic and takes the serious part of the music video out, it looks like nothing has been done to the video but the main character I walking like an idiot. I have an idea to instead of speed the footage, to slow it down and reverse it still; this might make it clearer that video is going backwards.

In conclusion, I believe my music video is good, through having a wide range of different shot and the audience can see what’s going on. However the audience might be lost in why this is all happening and will not understand the music video in its entirety.
